Not Vanilla

I love the Florida Keys.  I try to get there often.  It’s the barefoot-hippie thing, the tiki bars, and the kaleidoscopic streets in Key West.  Every time I visit, I promise myself I’m going to buy one of those brilliant little cottages.  I thought my post was going to end up with a lot of this…

 

…instead, as I was sifting through photographs of cottage architecture, I kept gravitating toward the clean contrast of all-white buildings and their backdrops.  The exteriors come in the form of wood shakes, painted brick, stucco, or board and batten.  Take that texture into consideration with the surroundings and it may lead you to one particular tint of white.  The difference in shades can be so slight, yet make such an impact.  I’ve got some of my favorites here.
